Hi, I'm Sara! I'm a former Recruiter turned Employer Brand enthusiast who enjoys uncovering unique people stories and being a cheerleader both in and out of the workplace. Oh, and I love to travel!
There’s more to everyone than their resume, and no, I’m not referring to a cover letter that may or may not go unread. I wrote this piece for those back on the job hunt and for those that have hiring influence. Now more than ever, hiring beyond a resume is so crucial to everyone, to feel like humans, and even to be strategic with how hiring is done. Expecting people to move from one job to the next is now somewhat antiquated, and taking a career break to explore and recharge shouldn’t come with a negative bias.
With International Women's Day is approaching, it is important to recognize that we don't need just one day to celebrate. I wrote this piece to shine the light on two of my female colleagues that took control of their careers by identifying a business need and enhancing the internal communities and opportunities for the professionals at Geller & Company.
In partnership with the Learning & Development team, I helped interview employees to capture their career experiences, inspirations, and accomplishments. I would create a condensed version of the employee career interview to be featured on social media. This feature is one of several examples I had spearheaded and executed during my time with this organization.
After two months of traveling through Europe, I ended my adventure with Unsettled on a two-week trip to Tuscany, Italy. What I thought would be two weeks of non-stop pasta, gelato, and wine (it was) turned out to be so much more. Two weeks that I didn't know I needed. Two weeks that left me with clarity, connection, and memories to last a lifetime.
Tuscany is not just for those in pairs. With its scenic landscapes lined with cypress trees and olive tree groves and being one of Italy’s most thriving agricultural regions, Tuscany is the perfect location to fall in love (with food). Not only is Tuscany an incredible food destination, but there's something there for everyone, making it a great spot for the whole family.
We all know someone who has likely been “ghosted” at least once. To put it simply, it sucks, and it wastes everyone’s time. I see it occur way too often, and the outrageous part is that it's happening more in the professional world than I've ever experienced it before…from candidates! With years of corporate recruiting and employer branding experience, I'm sharing my perspective on the effects of ghosting and some things to keep in mind when going through any job search process.
How often is it that a passion from your childhood, or for some, a dream, becomes a reality for your present? Well, for about eighty-five individuals across New York City, that opportunity is a reality through Cheer New York (CNY). That’s right, a cheerleading team for adults, but with a twist.
My mom cried when I told her we were taking a mother-and-daughter trip to Europe with my number one travel partner Brittany and her mom Dana. I wrote this as a reflection about a beautiful memory-filled experience with my mom with the hope it will also inspire other people to book that trip and make the most of time spent with loved ones.
Ah, the sweet smell of chocolate and sugary batter intoxicates the air as you stroll down the charming, bustling streets. Crisp waffles straight off the iron are placed into their paper beds and accompanied by chocolate sauces, strawberries, or whipped cream. No, this is not a dream; this is Brussels, Belgium, and for many, a sweet tooth lover’s paradise brought to life.
If you have watched the Netflix docuseries Cheer that recently won over the hearts of many, then you can probably understand just how much the sport of cheerleading can influence and shape someone to be successful in the professional world. I wrote this story to share how my cheerleading upbringing has helped shape my career path and the work I do today.
Doing anything on your own, especially traveling, is inspiring. If you wait for other people to join you, you may never do it, so why not just go? For anyone that is on the verge of wanting to try out a solo experience but needs a little nudge on how to get started, this is for you. There's no better time than the present to take that leap into a new adventure and with the best company out there, you.
My heart has physically been in New York City for the past seven years, but mentally was there several years prior. While I am incredibly fortunate for all that I do have during this pandemic, COVID-19 intruded and forced me to make one of the toughest and emotional decisions of my life so far. Read on for an inside look at my love letter to NYC.
